We had to replace the floor return vent so I picked up an antique salvage grate from a great place called ReStore
In case you were wondering why we had to replace the vent let me introduce you to my little friend:

I call him the Toe-Opener because he lies in wait and then catches your toe with his talon like claws

Here is a picture of the hardwoods after their first coat of finish:

These picture don't really do it justice it is in fact much richer in color:

But then what do I know I'm not going to see them in daylight until this weekend

Oh and here is the new grate kicking out the Toe-Opener

Well it late so I'll post more later...
the grate looks ... well, GREAT! ... he he! I kill me, but seriously, it looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the floors!

That's really "grate" you found the right size grate! (Well, at least Shanna will laugh at that!). Anyway, that's a really nice looking grate...much better than the other one for sure. That thing looks like a Medieval torture contraption. The new one will be much better on bare feet and dog paws, too. The floors are looking awesome...nothing like the patina of aged wood! LS
ReplyDeleteI dont get it. Is that a giant heat register?
ReplyDeleteI don't see why you're getting rid of the toe-opener. Some people pay a lot of money for pedicures with exfoliation. That grate looked like a trip to the spa.
